At Brighter Futures Educational Trust, we follow the same structure as all Multi Academy Trusts (MATs). This includes Members and Trustees (also known as Directors).
Members hold the Trust to account at a high level, while Trustees take on a more active role and are legally accountable to the Secretary of State for Education for how the Trust runs and performs.
The Board of Trustees (BoT) is accountable to the DfE and assumes overall responsibility for the Trusts governance and financial performance. The BoT is supported by two key strategic committees:
- Finance and Risk Committee
- Standards Committee
These committees provide oversight across the Trust’s key operational areas. The full Board and its committees meet once every half term.
The Trust has a clear scheme of delegation which outlines how responsibilities are shared between the Members, the Board of Trustees, the sub-committees, the Executive Leadership Team, Local Governing Bodies (LGBs), and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) of each school.
