In November 2016, Larwood Academy Trust was formed, consisting of the newly academised SEMH Larwood School in Stevenage, which had clearly established its own pathway of swift and appropriate care for the young people that it served.
During 2018, the Trust was commissioned to provide outreach and inreach support for primary schools in Stevenage, and in November 2019, the concept of a ‘school within a school’, known as Space Hub, was established, focusing on the specific needs of autistic pupils.
In February 2020, Brandles School, a secondary SEMH school in Baldock, joined our Trust.
In January 2025 the Trust formally changed its name to Brighter Futures Educational Trust.
